Application

CCI’s Innovation Governance Program (iGP) offers current and future corporate directors three levels of governance training to equip them with the skills and resources they require to help Canada’s fastest-growing companies scale-up globally. Once participants complete all three levels, they will receive a certificate of completion. During their course of study, participants will learn from and engage with Canada’s leading innovation and governance experts and have opportunities to meet and network with a unique peer network of Canadian business leaders interested in corporate governance and innovation policy.

Program Levels

  • iGP Level 1 is a six-week training program that includes twelve one-hour sessions of instruction, class participation and exercises. iGP Level 1 includes modules on the role of directors for high-growth companies, data commercialization and governance, intellectual property and governance, cybersecurity, and risk, finance, and controls.

  • iGP Level 2 is a six-week training program available to individuals who have successfully completed iGP Level 1. In this advanced program, participants will build on their knowledge in areas covered in Level 1, as well focus on new subject areas, including commercialization and business models, talent (attraction, retention, training, education), ESG and DEI, financing (raising capital, capital allocation, private contracts), and boardroom dynamics.

Through our channel partners, a limited number of subsidies are available for individuals who require financial assistance, or whose organization does not have sufficient professional development funds to support their participation. We seek to support individuals from populations traditionally underrepresented inside Canadian boardrooms, including women, Aboriginal peoples, racialized groups, people with disabilities, and people from the LGBTQ+ community.

Before applying, please confer with your employer to see if professional development funds are available to you.

Please only apply for a subsidy if you would be unable to attend the program otherwise, due to financial constraints.

Diversity

To ensure we deliver on increasing diversity on Canadian boards, we collect demographic information to make sure we are working towards meeting the needs of different communities underrepresented in boardrooms today, and so that we continue to develop an inclusive, equitable education experience for all participants.
